Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Artifex Arcanum (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes arising from use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
Description of Service
Artifex Arcanum is a free, browser-based tool that lets you create, customise, and export custom Dungeons & Dragons magic item cards. It is provided as a personal hobby project, hosted as a static site on GitHub Pages, with no guarantee of continued availability.
The Service is provided free of charge and "as-is." We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.
Your Content
You retain full ownership of all content you create using Artifex Arcanum — including item names, descriptions, images, and exported card files. We claim no rights over your creations.
You may use your cards for any purpose, including commercial use such as selling homebrew supplements or using them in paid campaigns, subject to any third-party rights in content you incorporate (for example, artwork you do not own).
Because all data is stored in your own browser and any cloud uploads go directly to your own Google Drive or Dropbox account, we never have access to your content and cannot be responsible for its loss or misuse.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to create, store, or share content that:
- Violates any applicable law or regulation.
- Infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party.
- Is defamatory, harassing, or abusive toward any person.
Third-Party Services
The Service optionally integrates with Google Drive and Dropbox. Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms:

Intellectual Property
The source code for Artifex Arcanum is available on GitHub. The app's interface, design, and original assets remain the property of the developer.
Dungeons & Dragons and related terms are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast LLC. Artifex Arcanum is an unofficial fan tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast.
Item type icons used in the app are sourced from dnd-item-icons-by-gwill by Gwillewyn and are used in accordance with their respective licence.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Because all card data is stored in your browser's local storage, data loss can occur if you clear your browser data, switch devices, or use the browser's private/incognito mode. We strongly recommend using the JSON export feature to back up items you care about.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Irish and EU law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data or any other losses.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
